What is the point of playing if all you do is resign after 1,2, or zero moves. Why join tourneys if thats what you are going to do!
Yotta do you have a thought on this?
I think players should be allowed to withdraw from a tournament at any round early without affecting their ratings. This should help to reduce the 1,2 or zero moves. I have no idea how many old uncompleted tournaments I still have waiting for the next round. This is true when a player signed up more than 10 tournaments in the past. Any comments?
I think one of our best long term solutions will be to eventually switch over to swiss tournaments.
In general it is more suitable for online tournaments than knockouts, and it would also be easier to deal with scenarios where players withdraw and not affecting their ratings with games they have not shown up for.
Back in the good old days of B H Wood's Postal Chess Club there were complaints about players who would enter many tournament's at a time and resign until they found weak ones. Plus ca change, plus ca meme chose, n'est ce pas?
