If you would like to play in a special tournament, leave an order with a post in the conversation. It should be like this one: "Please start, 1+0 days tournament. I'm ready to play." In case we get 6 and more orders we start the ordered tournament.

Hi El-cid,

We've created the Speed Kings - Aug 2018 tournament for you, with a 1 day timeout.

Yes, dear Yotta you're absolutely right. We need to encourage the active part of our community. We motivate those help us. Corvidae's Special (3 days per move) is launched and open to everyone of you, dear friends!

Regarding tourneys I think they should start by a certain date or as soon as a certain number of players have joined. The creator would set those parameters On another site tourney games start as soon as 2 players have joined (those are round-robin tourneys) Perhaps that could apply to KO events as well.

 ketchuplover (1355)    21 Sep 2018 04:56:39

Upon further review it looks like you're already doing that.

 vasyl_puzanov (827)    21 Sep 2018 09:43:20

Dear ketchuplover, the only reason we fail to start some tournaments in ASAP mode is that we want as many as possible players to join. The logic is the more waiting time to join the more people could come and join. Isn't it pretty sound from our side? Neh?

 ketchuplover (1355)    21 Sep 2018 16:59:37

I respect your point earthling. Perhaps someday we'll have creative control and the cosmos itself shall be ours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I wait a long time for a tournament to start, I withdraw. I would like to see some tournies with a single opening. Can't recall what you call them but it would help some us learn opening moves. The starting moves could be listed for each to play but not already placed on the board.

 ketchuplover (1355)    26 Sep 2018 15:30:44

They're call Thematic(s)

 Yotta (1147)    27 Sep 2018 17:01:14

Will do some research about Thematic chess tournaments. Are there any other players who would like to play these kind of tournaments?

I agree, we need thematic tournaments. But only after the launch of round robin tournaments. I have been playing chess for more than 25 year and can say there no thematic knockouts anywhere.

I think the pop-up tourney invites should include the time control for sure and format if possible. Piece out

The tourney pop-ups now includes the formatted time control.

We are getting a few requests to implement email reminders for when tournaments are about to start. We will schedule some development time to get such a reminder feature implemented.

 Corvidae (1142)    10 Oct 2018 19:59:24

excuse my ignorance.... what are pop-ups ?

 Yotta (1147)    10 Oct 2018 20:15:29

It are those messages you see which announces new tournaments when you go to your game page...

 Corvidae (1142)    10 Oct 2018 20:44:51

OK, thanks.

 vasyl_puzanov (827)    16 Oct 2018 10:16:08

I've started Gold Leaves Special: 3 days|move and 5 days to register. I'm curious about the possible number of participants. If everything is ok. We will have short term registration tournaments on a regular basis soon.

Do you need more tournaments right now? How many days|per move shall they be?

 Corvidae (1142)    5 Nov 2018 10:12:21

There are 14 tournaments in progress and four pending - with one stretching back to February. Better to conclude some of these before starting more?

I propose that one new tourney be proposed after 2 are completed.

 Corvidae (1142)    5 Nov 2018 20:35:22

Surely if we did that the tournaments would come to a standstill when there is only one tournament left.

 vasyl_puzanov (827)    31 Jul 2019 11:27:00

Don't be shy! Order a special tournament, write how many days per move you prefer, suggest us its probable name.

 ketchuplover (1355)    2 Aug 2019 20:20:14

A player from chesshere was/is interested in starting a tourney. Hope they contacted an admin.

I just remind in case you need more tournament inform us in the thread!

What about:
ULTRA Tournament

Round 1: 1day
Round Robin, 'W+B vs each player.'
Top 4 rated entries receive a Bye to round 2
Split all entries into 4 (as equal possible total of ratings) groups
Top2 of each group advance to Round 2 (Ties settled by single games until a winner emerges)

Round 2: 3day
Round Robin, 'W+B vs each player.'
Top 4 rated entries are added to the pool of players split into 4 (as equal possible total of ratings) groups
Top2 of each group advance to Round 3 (Ties settled by single games until a winner emerges)

Round 3: 5day
Round Robin, 'W+B vs each player.'
Players who have advanced this far are split into 2 (as equal possible total of ratings) groups
Winners of each group advance to GOLD Medal (Ties settled by single games until a winner emerges)
ALL 2nd Place finishers (including Ties) advance to the BRONZE Medal Round

Round 4: 7day
The Medal Rounds are of 'Knockout' type.
Winners of Round 3 Groups play for GOLD Medal.
ALL 2nd & 3rd Place finishers (NO TIE-BREAKS) play for the BRONZE Medal.

Thank you for the suggestion IDontCastle.

We will look into this tournament structure. I believe it will be an improvement over pure knockout tournaments.

It has been over half a year since the last post.
Is anything going to take hold in future tournaments?
First of the year would be a great kick-off for a special event, might even boost membership.

 Yotta (1147)    19 Oct 2022 03:36:43

The reason for the delay is that we are evaluating new technology to build the ChessConquest platform on.

A lot has changed in the software space since we first launched ChessConquest, and we believe that a pivot to new modern development tools will allow us to serve the ChessConquest community more efficiently with new requests.

That being said, we don’t want to rush such a decision since it is expensive and we need to make sure it is the right one for long term sustainability
We definitely take note of all your suggestions IDontCastle, and realise that we will have to introduce new features if we want to grow the community.

 Yotta (1147)    19 Oct 2022 03:37:31

Hopefully I will be able to provide more clarity soon.
