For those of us that didn’t pay attention or catch it, what, in brief, is/was the scandal? Btw I wasn’t sure anybody would ever dethrone Carlsen.

In St.Louis round 3 or 4 Niemann beat Carlsen over the board. Carlsen dropped out of the tourney. Niemann had/has admitted cheating in online competition. Carlsen accused Nemann of somehow cheating even though you can't cheat in person. A few weeks after that tourney they met online. Carlsen had white. Carlsen resigned on move 2.
