seems I can't chat with anyone while playing! When I click on the chat icon it just blinks and I get nothing! Any suggestions?

The only orange thing I see is the button to enter game messages.

Masteryeo, are you playing on your phone or a desktop computer?

The orange chat icon is to submit what you have typed. So you first need to type what you want to say, and then press the orange chat icon.

perhaps 'chat' is the wrong word to use, as it suggests the spoken word, would not 'type' be better?

Some sites have a "chat" feature apart from the game boards and forums. Perhaps that will exist here eventually.

The one I've seen are either on the front page or have a separate link for them. examples are chessrex.com and nothingbutchess.com
cwc.ajec-echecs.fr has a link to that area

Masteryeo, with regards to your original post about having an issue with the chat icon...

We've made some adjustments to the games page and hopefully your problem should now be sorted out.
